Teaching Strategies GOLD

Offered by: Early Childhood Assessment for Responsive Teaching

This twelve-hour training introduces teachers to Teaching Strategies GOLD, a Web-based, developmentally appropriate assessment system for children from birth through kindergarten. Through video clips, small-group work, and facilitator-led discussions, teachers will explore the structure, features, and functionality of the tool, and practice using it to follow the four-step assessment cycle.

Hands-on activities include observing children and writing objective observation notes, evaluating a child portfolio, and communicating assessment information with families. By the end of the session, teachers will have the basic skills they need to begin implementing Teaching Strategies GOLD in their classrooms.

Free one-year Teaching Strategies GOLD subscriptions/portfolios are available to programs that are new GOLD subscribers and who:

  • Complete the 12-hour training, and
  • Attend a 4-part Professional Learning Community focused on hands-on practice with the tool

Who Can Participate: Teachers; Teaching Assistants; Directors; other administrators or educators who have not previously been trained in TSGOLD or who would benefit from additional training
